Biography

Lee Leonard has been a painter in oils for 50 years, although she often works in acrylics or watercolors. She has also been a printmaker for 15 years working mostly in monoprinting. Her work varies from representational to abstract.

Lee trained at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston Massachusetts and was mentored by Henry Hensche from the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown. She also received printmaking training from the Museum School of Art in Boston and continued for 10 years at the South Shore Art Collaborative in Cohasset Massachusetts. In addition, to support herself, Lee graduated from Rittner’s School of Floral Design in Boston and worked as a floral designer for 10 years.

Lee lived with her husband Jack and raised 3 boys in Boston. For 10 years, she and her husband have divided their time between Boylston NS and the United States. The waters and forests of Nova Scotia have not stopped providing inspiration to her paintings and prints.
